The 6th Scottish Entertainment & Hospitality Awards presented by Molson Coors welcomed 900 guests to a sparkling Gala Final in Merchant Square!
2017 saw 900 representatives from the best of the Scottish entertainment and hospitality trade take over the Merchant Square, Glasgow for a night of celebration, big wins and Las Vegas style entertainment. After five fun-packed years the Gala Final has become an exciting mainstay of the hospitality industry annual calendar and this year’s event topped them all.
The 2017 competition, presented by Molson Coors, received more nominations and votes than ever before with over 3,000 venues taking part! In the weeks running up to the event the judging panel toured the country performing secret visits to discover the best of the best. The 120 shortlisted venues, the nation’s favourites, packed out Merchant Square to discover their fate.
The Scottish Entertainment & Hospitality Awards was a big celebration from start to finish; guests arrived to a red-carpet welcome in to a transformed Merchant Square. The event kicked off with a big Las Vegas performance from the GAMTA musical theatre school before Capital FM presenter and funny-man Des Clarke took to the stage to commence proceedings. The guests were hushed as one by one, presented by representatives from sponsors and supporters, the night’s awards were handed out to deserving businesses from across Scotland.
The evening was not just rewarding for the winners; there were also charitable efforts on behalf of Scottish Entertainment & Hospitality Awards 2017 charity partner, Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland who raised over £20,000. Official Travel Partner, Barrhead Travel gifted an absolutely fantastic grand star raffle prize and one lucky guest won a 5-night holiday at the 5 star ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas with flights included!
The celebrations continued well in to the night; guests were delighted with a full bill of Las Vegas inspired performers. Star of The Voice, Barbara Bryceland had people on their feet as the legend Shirley Bassey; top Elvis act Jonny Lee Memphis transported all to the entertainment capital; and international illusionist Chris de Rosa wowed guests with a spellbinding performance in the round.
The evening’s headline act was British legend and Las Vegas regular, Tony Christie! In Glasgow for one night only, Tony Christie’s legendary voice filled the buzzing Merchant Square as guests enjoyed a mass sing-a-long to classics such as the topical ‘Las Vegas’ and big hit ‘Amarillo’.
Awards CEO and founder, Warren Paul is already looking to plans for next year, ‘The engagement with our 2017 event has been astronomical and witnessing the excitement and pride at our Gala Final was heart-warming.
